 Service Voter

1. One who is a member of the Armed Forces of the Union
2. A resident who is a Personnel of Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, India Coast Guard, National Security Guard, Central Industrial Security Force, GREF personnel in Border Road Organisation
3. Member of an Armed Police Force of a State serving outside the state
4. Government employed person serving outside India
5. Only Wife of service voter residing with him shall also be treated as service voter but not children
6. It is not applicable to the husband of female service voter

How to Apply as Service Voter 

A Service Voter can Vote from the place of his posting through postal ballot sent by returning officer.

Forms are :

1. Members of Armed Forces – Form 2
2. Members of Armed Police Force of a State, serving outside that State – Form 2 A
3. Persons employed under Government of India on post outside India – Form 3

• Firstly download the form from official website of Chief Election Commission or NVSP portal

• Find the polling station, assembly constituencies of your district by logging in to official website 
• Select and fill in the form
• Fill in the declaration form and submit it to Nodal Officer or Record Office during revision programme or updation of  electoral rolls

• Before elections, the Returning Officer will send the postal ballot either through post or electronically
• Vote your contestant, submit the vote and become a Classified Service Voter(CSV)

Note :

A separate declaration form is not given to wife of a service voter, service voter himself has to make declaration in the form itself

A service voter does not require EPIC card, as he does not go to polling stations for voting.

Service voters list is separately prepared in last part of electoral list of each constituencies in English only

A service voter can become a General voter

Yes, a service voter can become a general voter, by  enrolling as general voter, at the place of your posting

Fill form 6 for new voter registration

You will be issuing EPIC card through which you can enjoy right to vote

Note: One must vote only for one time either as a service voter or General voter
