Scholarship was introduced and a boon for students by Government. This was for poor and needy students who cannot afford higher level of education right from schooling to PG. Scholarships aims at providing incentives and schemes to students for completing their level of education. Previously students use to apply in college or school, but now it is not so. One can apply individually through NSP (National Scholarship Portal). But remember, one can apply if and only if institution is enrolled in NSP portal. Not only government but also many private institutions are also encouraging scholarship schemes to students. Scholarship is of two types pre-matric scholarship and post-matric scholarship.
Pre-matric scholarship : Pre-matric scholarship is applicable to students from class 1-10. It invites applications from minority candidates like sc, st, christian, muslim, sikh, jain, etc., students will receive admission fee, maintenance fee, tuition fee for 10 months in academic year
Post-matric scholarship : It is the scheme applicable to those students who are pursuing class XI to P.G from any college/institution/university and belongs to minority community.
Who are eligible to get scholarship schemes in India?
- Overall annual income of the family shall not exceed Rs.2 lakhs
- Candidate shall secure about 50% of marks in previous examination
- Shall be a full-time student regular to school/college/institution
- Must not be acquiring any other scholarships from other sources
- Students must be from minority community and must possess the minority caste certificate
How to apply scholarship in India online?
Firstly visit the scholarship official website National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
If student is applying for first time then click on new user registration
The following form appears where you need to fill in all the details

- State of domicile – state which you belong to
- Student name
- date of birth
- Mobile number
- Name of Bank
- Bank ifsc code
- Bank account number
- Gender
- Scholarship category – choose pre-matric scholarship or Post-matric scholarship
- Email id
- Enter captcha
- Get yourself registered
- Verify your mobile number and login with OTP for first time send by portal
After the getting registered, students need to apply by clicking on login to apply
A fresh screen appears with application form, update registration details, check your status, print application and log out
Provide valid details in registration details section which consists of students personal information.
In the academic details section furnish all the details regarding the course, college/institution name, marks scored, admission fee, tuition fee, mode of study and date
In the next section comes the basic details like disability, marital status, orphan, guardian name, parents profession, ifsc code, bank account number
Click on the button save and continue
In the Next screen appears contact details, fill in details regarding your name of state, district, taluk, pin code, etc.,
Select the type of scheme in the scheme details section, whether it is a pre-matric or post-matric scholarship
In the upload the document section upload all the required documents
Click on the button final submit
All the details which you furnished comes in the type of application click on print, just download it and save it
If you want to know the status of the application, just login and click on check your status
Finally new scholarship is issued
