Gujarat assembly elections are conducted in two phases i.e., on December 9th and 14th. Phase 1 elections are held in 89 assembly constituencies. Phase 2 elections are in 93 constituencies. It is the prior responsibility of the citizens to have update of EPIC card.Check yourself whether your name is present in the voters list. If not so, enroll your name, before the 10 days of the last date given to candidate for filing nomination. Along with EPIC card, download and take the print out of the voter slip from the official Gujarat ceo website. If any change is to be made, make sure it is made before 1 month of the election date. If an overseas elector is present by himself, then he is identified on the basis of original passport only.
Documents Required to take to Polling Station in Gujarat
Election commission has announced that if any of the electors does not have EPIC card, one can produce any one of the following document as the identity proof
- Bank/post office passbook with photograph
- Smart card issued by RGI under NPR
- Service ID cards with photograph by central/state/Govt PSUs/ Public ltd company
- Health insurance smart card issued under scheme of ministry of labour
- Official ID card issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs
- Pension document with photograph
- Photo voter slip issued by election machinery
- Passport
- Aadhaar card
- Driving license
- Pan card
- MNREGA job card
What are the responsibilities of voters on voting day
As a responsible citizen, one should know the do’s and dont’s as to what to accept and beware of malpractices while going to polling station.
- Offering or accepting money to vote or not to any particular candidate
- Accepting gifts, feasts, to vote or not to vote for a particular candidate, consuming liquor at the time of voting time
- Accepting bribe from candidates to vote or not to vote particular person on the grounds of caste, creed, religion, etc.,
- Offering or accepting travelling allowance from polling station to destination or vice versa
